These terms govern your use of GreenScope. Read them before you start playing.
The basics
GreenScope is an iOS application operated by S Shey ("we," "us," "our"), based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The service
GreenScope uses your iPhone's LiDAR sensor and an on-device neural network to scan putting greens and suggest a putt line. The service is a training and practice aid. It is designed to help you understand greens, improve your reading skills, and learn your own putting tendencies. The app runs entirely on your device — no account, no sign-up, no cloud component.
Important: GreenScope is not permitted for use during tournament play or in rounds being posted to a handicap, under R&A and USGA Rule 4.3. The app produces a recommended line of play, which Rule 4.3 prohibits during a stipulated round. Use it for practice, training, and casual rounds only.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use GreenScope.
Pricing
GreenScope is currently free. We expect to introduce paid subscriptions in a future update — when we do, all purchases will be processed through Apple's App Store via StoreKit, and Apple will manage pricing, renewal, refunds, and your payment details. We never see your card information.
If you ever subscribe in the future, you will be able to cancel at any time in your iPhone Settings under your Apple ID. These Terms will be updated to reflect any new subscription mechanics before they go live.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app during tournament play or for rounds being posted to a handicap.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the GreenScope models, neural network weights, or proprietary algorithms.
- Use the service in violation of any applicable law or the Rules of Golf when those rules apply.
- Interfere with the service, attempt unauthorised access, or scrape data at scale.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially redistribute the service without our written permission.
Your data
Your data is governed by our Privacy Policy. In short: your scans, putting history, and stats live on your device — we don't collect them on our servers.
Our intellectual property
GreenScope, including the app, the neural network, the physics simulator, the website, and all related materials, is owned by S Shey and protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and trade secret laws. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on supported Apple devices for your personal, non-commercial use.
Disclaimers
GreenScope is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant that:
- The service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.
- Every putt prediction will be accurate. Greens vary; conditions change; the model is a tool, not an oracle.
- The service is suitable for any particular purpose beyond what we describe.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties not expressly stated here.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you have paid to us in the past 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including missed putts, lost rounds, broken clubs, or hurt feelings on the back nine.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless S Shey from any claims, losses, or damages arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these Terms.
Termination
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, with notice where reasonably possible. Sections that by their nature survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where possible, communicated in the app. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms will be resolved in the courts of Dubai, UAE, unless local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
